Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of OXO Good Grips 3-Piece Stainless-Steel Mixing Bowl SetCustomer Review: No-Slip, Good Size, Overall Good Bowls Summary: 4 Stars
The no-slip bottom is a definite plus for this set. The three sizes are different enough that each definitely has its own tasks, but at the same time they aren't oversized. They do take up more space that I would like, it seems that if the sides weren't so high, they could be a bit more squat and nest inside each other deeper. Just a nitpick complaint, people with larger kitchen cabinet space may not even notice.
My only complaint is that ours seem to have stained already, despite immediate washing. I've only noticed it on the largest bowl, but am hoping it will not happen on the others. It doesn't feel as if there's any residue on the bowls, almost like the metal soaked up the stain. I wish I saw exactly what my girlfriend had mixed in them, but I'll keep using them until it gets worse.
Customer Review: heavy and grippy Summary: 4 Stars
Another solid OXO product, carrying another heavy price-tag.
They're worth the money. Just don't call them bargains.
Pro: The heft and rubber base ensure the bowls stay put on the counter.
Con: The weight makes it somewhat tiresome when cradling the bowl in your arm.
Pro: The plastic surface clings to the flesh on your arm well so it won't slip out while you whisk.
Con: The rubber base and plastic walls means these won't double-duty as a double-boiler.
Bottom line: If you're not looking for a double-boiler, this bowl set is pretty much the cream of the crop.
Customer Review: Stainless Steel Mixing Summary: 4 Stars
I used the Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl when I was laid up in a small hut in Thailand, sick with malaria and scurvy. I mainly used it to vomit in. It never rusted or decomposed. I also used it to cook, boil stream water to drink, and as a hat against the sun. It comes in handy if you are traveling in a less than luxurious country where you need to use everything at your disposal for many uses.
Customer Review: Design flaw Summary: 3 Stars
The bowls as far as use are great. They are durable and good sized. However, I have had a problem with water seeping in to the hole on the bottom rubber piece. This occurs during washing. All of the bowls are retaining water (think bath tub squirty toy). Not only does the water leak out into the drawer, but the thought of what must be developing in there is far from appetizing. Anyone found a solution for this? I've past my return window.
Customer Review: Didn't last long Summary: 3 Stars
I had these for about a year and the metal started rusting. I got them because I liked the non-slip rubber at the bottom which works great. I did put them in the dishwasher for the first wash or two, so maybe that had something to do with the rust.
