Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of OXO Good Grips 4-Cup Angled Measuring Cup

Customer Review: The View from the Top
Summary: 3 Stars

I got this measuring cup as I wanted one I could view from the top instead of having to crouch down and work with the poor lighting in my rental-apartment kitchen to read measurements. It certainly fulfills that purpose.

I haven't had any issues with the spout as yet, but have generally been pouring into larger bowls or pans. The handle is comfortable for all of the thirty seconds I normally need to hold onto it.

However... one thing I frequently use measuring cups for is mixing liquid ingredients together before adding them to a recipe, or for, say, beating eggs for scrambled eggs. On that front, this one is kind of a failure. The angled bit sticks out and means that if you're mixing things and not really looking, your mixing implement will run into the sticky-out measurement part repeatedly. And annoyingly, when you're just trying to get your 5am scrambled eggs done. It also makes cleaning a little tedious, since there are a couple of corners.

I do have a glass Pyrex measuring cup that also has markings which can be read from above. They're just printed on the inside, on the spout side, and it works quite well. I'm not sure it's still made but I vastly prefer that design.

Customer Review: One MAJOR flaw!
Summary: 3 Stars

I have to admit I love this for the ease of measuring. The only draw back (and it's major for me) is that it doesn't pour well. The spout is too flat so the liquids just spill over the edge - ok if your pouring into a large bowl, but not if you need any degree of accuracy. I hope OXOs designers fix this soon, but I don't understand how they missed it in the first place. Such a major (and simple to fix) flaw.

Customer Review: MEASURING is a dream, but POURING is a nightmare
Summary: 3 Stars

Love the fact that you can see DOWN onto the levels in the cup... but the flat "spout" (as many have pointed out here) is a severe design flaw. If you have under 4-cups, you can overcome this shortcoming by pouring very, very slowly. Yes, it's annoying, but it works. However, if you have gone crazy (!) and filled it above the 4-cup line (which you can, easily), then you ARE going to spill. Period.

Customer Review: Is a Nightmare to Pour!
Summary: 2 Stars

I have had this 4 cup measuring cup for some time now, and have not been able to find a suitable replacement for it. It is horrible! Don't get me wrong, the concept is nice, but it doesn't pour worth a darn! I use it to put boiling water in my French Press, to make my coffee. Nearly every time, I have a fair portion spill out, and when you are working with boiling water, that is definitely NOT good!

I have the metal 2 cup version of this measuring cup, and it is excellent! Why don't they make the metal version of this one? I would save my $, and buy something else, were I you!

Customer Review: Needs work
Summary: 2 Stars

Fully agree with the other reviewer whose cup cracked (the 4-cup one is the only one of the set to do so and cracked at the mold release "button" on the bottom) and the reviewer who remarked that it doesn't pour well. It's only a year old and useless for liquids because of the leak but didn't use it so much for that anyway because of the extremely poor pouring qualities. Now it's only used for measuring dry items. OXO needs to work on this.
