The title says it all. I was looking for 9-inch tongs so I could use them for many different purposes. Not too long, not too short. They have nylon tips and will not scratch your pans. They also easily lock in a closed position for drawer storage and drawer retrieval, not only saving space but also not pulling out other things from the drawer with them because they stayed closed. The tongs arrived just in time for Christmas and we used them at one of our Christmas parties to remove sliced ham from a cherished Cuisinart non-stick Stainless Steel Roasting pan. We had 30 guests using these tongs and there was not one scratch on the non-stick surface. People young and old had an easy time using the tongs to quickly select their slices. I have used these for many other purposes since then and they are great. They would make a great gift too.Customer Review: Favorite tool in the kitchen

These tongs are simle, elegant, and functional. The nylon heads mean you can use it in any pot or pan you own without worrying about scratching the surface all while providing a very firm grip on whatever you are trying to pick up. And I have had no problems with them melting or even coming close to it and I have used these to pull things out of pots, pans and even the oven and broiler.
The ability to lock them closed is also a nice feature, however after several months of using these for some reason I still think that the lock should be reversed so that it is pushed in when locked closed and pulled out when opened up.
Overall this is a solid and well built product that functions exactly how you would expect it to.

I would like to tell you, this is the most useful tool in my kitchen. She works like my right hand! seriously!!
I got this Oxo Grip and can opener as Christmas gift 8 YEARS AGO from my searest boss. They still working great at my kitchen. Grip, this tool is very durable that you can trust. The end lock is very useful that you can just push to open on your hip. both side has thick lubber NEVER melt 8 years(awesome isn't it?)
Isn't that amazing? Isn't what all ladies looking for in the kitchen? If some reason those 2 tools broken or missing or gone, I really would buy again, and again. I will give new sets to my son's wife in the future!! :) That much I recommended this item. I hope this might help your decision.

I went through many years of cooking without having tongs for kitchen use (did use them for BBQ) and I did not think I needed any. I needed a filler item and purchased these. These tongs are great! I have used them much more than I expected. I have the 9" size which is great for general kitchen use and compact enough to store in my gadget drawer. I wanted tongs that would not scratch my nonstick cookware and these are just right. The nylon heads work fine and I have not had any issues with them melting from heat. They are comfortable to use. I use the tongs for turning items during pan frying and oven roasting and for tossing spaghetti and long noodles with sauce and serving.Customer Review: Must have for non-stick pans!

These tongs work really well, similar to their non-nylon headed counterparts, but you don't have to worry about scratching your pans with these! I have used these in really hot pans and have not experienced any melting or degradation with the tips like some of the other people have mentioned in their reviews. I have been so pleased with my set that I purchased another for a family member receiving a new non-stick pot/pan set that she's receiving from us for Christmas! (sssshhhh! she doesn't know yet!) :) Protects your pans from scratching, locks easily and tightly for compact storage, comfortable grips on handles. A must use for non-stick pan users!
