These are great for the kitchen and the nylon heads are very safe when using teflon-coated pans. The locking feature is very easy to use and the length is perfect for turning foods on the stove or in the oven. Using a fork pierces the food and allows the juices to run out, while the tongs preserve the food flavor. I use these almost every day and they've held up very well and clean-up is a breeze. Like some of the other reviewers I originally saw these tongs in an America's Test Kitchen product review quite some time ago. The unusual name "OXO" stuck in my head. When I decided to replace some old tongs with a more substantial pair my choice was OXO. I only wish I'd bought both sizes. I see a larger pair in a future order. These are fantastic tongs! They are the perfect length, have a smooth operation and that nylon coating on the tips is a great addition. I bought them to use in my George Foreman grill and other non stick cookware, but have found myself reaching for them instead of my tradtional tongs. These are great tongs. I have them in the nylon tips and metal. They actually grip food great and the locking feature is a definite plus. I use the nylon on my nonstick pans and the metal for grilling. I have both sizes. Other brands I have bought always have problems with gripping the food and the locking feature. I have the same tongs with metal heads and always gingerly pick up whatever I'm cooking for fear of scratching my pots and pans. I usually end up getting stung by popping oil more often than not because of this. But with these bad boys, there's no fear of scratching so it sames me and my cookware!
