It's nothing more than a piece of pressed, heavy gauge, brushed stainless steel with two rubber feet molded to the bottom. The feet run the entire length of the base.
Holds a huge spoon with ease. Rest more than one spoon on it and you have to place them precariously at odd angles to avoid cross-contamination of spoons.
We have put this in the dishwasher from time to time and it doesn't seem to be killing the rubber molding. Metal spoons have marred the nice, brushed effect in the bottom of the dish but this doesn't change the functionality at all.
