Customer Review: Proper Chopper

This is the second chopper of this type I've owned -- the previous one was a no-name brand made of stainless steel, and I found it very difficult to use. Though the steel seemed to promise durable operation, the parts were constantly coming apart, and the blades would often get stuck when I was chopping green peppers or onions.
So when the handle finally separated from the blade (after about a year of use), I decided to try this Oxo, knowing their reputation for high-quality cooking implements.
To date, I have NOT been disappointed with this little chopper. It works smoothly; I have not had the problem retracting the blades from onions that some other shoppers here have reported.
It is also easy to take apart and clean.
No, it is not a large unit, but I have not had a problem chopping an onion sliced into quarters (after removing the top and bottom, of course). And I like the way the top of the chopper locks down, making the unit more compact.
So I give it a definite thumbs up. But I'll report back if it proves to be less durable than expected...
Description of OXO Good Grips Chopper
Make easy work of chopping onions, nuts and more with the OXO Good Grips Chopper, just press the soft knob and the blades rotate for even chopping. An internal soft bumper absorbs shock to increase comfort and reduce sound. Chop ingredients in the enclosed cup with its soft, non-slip base, or remove the base and chop directly on a cutting board. A tab rotates within the cup to prevent food from accumulating on the side walls. The entire blade cartridge can be removed from the shopper by simply unscrewing it, so clean up is a breeze.
