Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of OXO Good Grips Citrus PeelerCustomer Review: Nice Orange Peeler Summary: 4 Stars
At first I was suspicious that it would not work as well as other orange peelers I have owned, but it does a pretty good job!
Customer Review: Great but not quite as good as that plastic Tupperware stick Summary: 3 Stars
Years ago, someone gave me one of those little Tupperware plastic-stick citrus peelers, and that silly but effective thing gets used almost every morning to peel grapefruit or orange for breakfast. I wanted an extra one to use @ home (I keep the Tupperware stick in my desk drawer @ work), so thought I'd give this a try.
It's very good, and works as promised. But all in all, not quite as effective at peeling grapefruit or oranges as that dumb little plastic stick. With that stick, I can slip the "stick end" underneath the peel after I've sliced around the circumference, and can work the peel fully, easily away from the fruit. This compact little Oxo however, has no good way of doing that, so you have to use the "scraper" edge to get the peel off. Still effective, sure, but it takes longer and you have to be careful to not cut into the fruit.
On the positive side, it's well made and nicely designed like most all Oxo gadgets. And it won't disappoint...unless perhaps you really like those little Tupperware sticks, like I do.
Customer Review: Not what I thought I was ordering. Summary: 3 Stars
I'm not blaming anyone but myself. I read about a new citris tool in all the domestics, thought this was it -- and it wasn't.
Or, I think it wasn't.
But, it's very sharp and probably good to do what it's meant to do.
Customer Review: Just average Summary: 3 Stars
Still doesn't make peeling a grapefruit easy. But it is better than using your fingers.
