Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of OXO Good Grips LiquiSeal Travel Mug, Stainless SteelCustomer Review: My favorite travel mug! Summary: 5 Stars
This OXO mug is by far the best travel coffee mug out there. It's design keeps your coffee hotter longer than imaginable and it's wonderfully spill-proof!
On busy mornings I might "forget" about my coffee for a bit at work if I get busy. But hours and hours later it is still piping hot like I just made it. I've never tested the "7 hour" claim in the description, but I can attest that it definitely keeps your beverage hot for at least 4 or 5 hours. Quite impressive.
Even BETTER is the complete spill-proof design of this mug. Other mugs out there use the term spill-proof when they should really be called spill-retardant, meaning that: anything with a top on it will "help stop" your drink from immediately spilling, but liquid will still spill out. The OXO mug definitely deserves the title of "spill-proof."
Another mug (a cheapie) spilled all over my car console. What-a-mess! And a Nissan mug I have spilled all over my paperwork, just tonight. Hence, why I am looking to get an extra OXO.
(Hey OXO, if you're out there reading this... I'll totally do ads for you. This is one product I stand by totally. :) Drop me a line!)
Customer Review: ***HOW TO CLEAN THIS MUG!*** Summary: 5 Stars
I just figured out how to clean the lid!!! I love this mug becasue it will keep my coffee hot well into the afternoon and doest spill a drop. (I have the stainless mug) I have never been able to clean the top and know it is full of disgusting junk. Instead of buying a new one I decided to just force this one apart with pliers and a screw driver so I will know how to clean the next one. Luckily i didnt break anything and it is as good as new know. Here is how:
Step 1: With a flathead screw driver or knife pry off the top of the rubber button that says "OXO". it is about 1/8" thick.
Step 2: With a small screw driver unscrew the philips screw that is now exposed from step #1.
Step 3: Pull on the round part under the lid that has the large seal and it will seperate from the top of the botton.
Step 4: Remove all parts fron the top of the lid and pay close attention so you can put it back together.
Step 5: Try not to throw up when you see the 1/4" thick layer of mildew, bacteria, and mold, you were just drinking out of!!!
Step 6: Clean all parts and reassemble the Mug. Good as new!
Customer Review: Great Mug Summary: 5 Stars
All I really wanted in a mug was something that would not spill. This baby was the best thing I found after looking all over the internet. Whether it's completely full or just has a few drops left, it never leaks. I can just toss it in my backpack without having to worry whether it will get coffee on my books. The click system is very crisp and leave no doubt whether it is sealed or not (there is nooooo inbetween). If you're a coffee drinker who likes their coffee really hot for a long time, this is your mug. I am not one of those people and I have to leave the lid off for a while before starting to drink or putting the lid on because it holds the heat that well. The only possible downfall is that it doesnt have a handle and that you can't toss it in the microwave. However even the plastic versions of this mug say you shouldn't microwave them (although you probably can). All in all I highly doubt you will find another mug that compares to this one. The closest you will probably come is a "no spill mug" that you have to screw the top off of to drink from. This mug is sweet. Buy it.
Customer Review: Cheap, Leak-proof and portable Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this mug after searching the net for 2week looking for a mug that was leakproof.
I originally wanted the Nissan thermos but it was hard to come by so I ran to a local office supply store and got this one for under $10.
Well it is spill proof as advertised.
Many people complain about cleaning the top but I don't have that problem. I don't drink coffee so my mug is always filled with Tea. To clean the top, I just run water thru the top and as the way goes thru the same pathway my tea goes it cleans out the top. I'm not sure what's so hard about this or how people manage to get things stuck in there.
If anything I fill the mug with soapy water, "activate" the leakproof button and just shake it real hard, then I "Deactivate" the leakproof button and allow the soapwater to run out...once again cleaning the pathway that my tea flows thru.
Unless you leave the mug & cover unclean for days on end, then ofcourse gunk will build up which will be hard to remove(maybe hot water will get
it out).
Customer Review: great mug = great morning Summary: 5 Stars
i've had quite a few mugs over the years and they all have failed me one way or another (leaks, spills, cracks). i've used this mug for a few weeks now and i have to say, it's doing pretty good. no leaks as long as i don't over fill, no spills as long as the button is closed, and no cracks when i drop it cause it's stainless steel (maybe a dent eventually). it's larger than i was hoping, but 12oz is big enough for a good coffee drink.
my morning ritual is as follows:
i do a quick pre-heat of the mug (hot water from the faucet, sit for 1 minute) as i make a latte with my nespresso & aeoroccino (it's quick and easy, and i'm out the door in 6 minutes, even with a fast clean up). i drop the sealed mug in my tote and catch a crowded bus to work (no hands to hold the mug upright, i'm hanging on a pole cause the driver's a maniac). when i get to the office, i click open the mug and spend the next 30 minutes enjoying my hot latte as i scan emails...guaranteed great morning, every morning!
