Let me start by saying that I LOVE THIS MUG. I've used it nearly every day for years...but the drawback -- well, it's kinda hard to clean. The other day I dropped it on a concrete floor and was completely disgusted by the oodles of crud that came out of the thing. (I do wash it after every use, I swear.) Armed with cotton swabs I started cleaning the thing...and got carried away. Take my word for it: don't do it. You'll break the seal that keeps the top of the mug together!
I needed a new mug (obviously) but they only had the plastic version of it...don't waste you're money. Thus I'm here on Amazon purchasing another one...

I believe Oxo has fixed the design flaw that was frustrating so many people. The travel mug I just purchased (in Jan of 2011) has a round disk underneath the lid that unscrews to allow water and soap to easily flow through the space that was getting clogged in the older mugs. Mine is cinch to clean, with none of the trapped liquid issues that lowered the reviewer ratings here on Amazon. But the features everyone did like are all still there, the sleek design, the spill proof lid, the one handed opening mechanism, and the long lasting thermal capacity. As long as Amazon has the new design in stock, this mug is a great purchase.Customer Review: Excellent Product

I wanted a spill-proof, insulated container for getting coffee in the morning. This product came well reviewed, so I decided to give it a shot.
This mug was exactly what I was looking for. When sealed, coffee doesn't escape at all - I can shake the mug to mix sugar and cream into the coffee.
The insulation works very well - several hours after filling, the coffee is still hot enough to enjoy.
Finally, I haven't had any issues with cleaning the mug or liquids being trapped inside. I wish this was machine washable, but it cleans easily enough that it isn't a big deal.

This is one of the best travel mugs that I have ever purchased.
1. When the mug is sealed it is totally leak proof. Any position that it is stored in will not leak. I have found that the rubber seal in some of the Thermos-Nissan mugs that I own have worn out over time and will allow a slight leak if not sitting upright.
2. Good double wall insulation. Beverage stays hot or cold for a considerable sign. Comparable to the Thermos-Nissan mugs.
3. Very good ergonomic shape for handling and drinking.
This mug lives up to it's advertising!

I am a law student and use this to carry coffee from home to class. Why I got it (and what it does well) is let me drink my coffee and toss the mug in my bag, with my books and laptop, and not have the remaining liquid ruin my materials. It is quick and easy to use. It is also great in the car (as a grad student, I drive a beat up Chevy that doesn't have cupholders - this is great for that too).
It definately doesn't keep coffee warm for seven hours or whatever it advertised; it starts to get cold after maybe a couple hours. However, this isn't a big deal for me.
