I read several reviews before purchasing these containers. I had also seen them in several stores (Dillard's, Kohl's). I liked the way they look and since I have a disability, they looked easy to open and close, but were still airtight. This was important to me. I ordered the 10 piece set, plus 3 - 4qt square containers. Here is my take:
1. The containers are awesome!
2. I don't like that I have to hand wash them, but then you don't have to wash canisters very often.
3. One broke in shipping - But I did the return through Amazon.com and received the replacement in LESS than 24 hours. I was astonished! Amazon sent the replacement with one-day shipping. I used the same box Amazon sent to me and printed there label, so all I had to do is had the box to the Post Office. It was pretty easy.
4. Some may consider that a pain, but considering the cost saving over Kohl's ($21.99) and Dillard's On-line ($16.99), in the store they were $21.99. Neither store had the 10 Piece set.
I would recommend these containers, especially if you have arthritis in your hands.

First I ordered 2 of the square, 4 quart containers. They both came with virtually no packing material, so of course, they were broken. Not really sure what Amazon was thinking, because the next ones they sent were packed really well and in perfect shape. Why didn't they do that the first time?? Oh well, their $ loss.
Once I got the unbroken ones, I was really happy with them in general, but decided I should not have gotten 2 of the big ones. I wanted them for sugar and flour, and the 4 quart was really huge for a sugar canister, in my opinion. I actually ended up buying a 2 quart square at a local store, and now I am totally in love with them. The big one is a great size for flour, the small is perfect for sugar, and they are super nice for scooping out of. When my younger kids cook, they have plenty of room to scoop up the ingredients and level off the measuring cup without spilling stuff all over. They seal nicely and, by being square, fit in the cupboard really well. I already bought another set to give to our recently-married daughter for her birthday. They are great!

I've got several different pieces in this set, and they are one of my favorite ways to store dry goods. I particularly like the 4 quart for cereal, the 1.5 quart rectangle for coffee beans (a pound fits perfectly), and the 2.5 quart rectangle for grains. I would note that the sizes smaller than 2.5 quart end up being a bit of a waste of space - for example, the lid for the 0.5 quart rectangle is almost the same size as the storage space. Stick with the larger ones.
The main reason I'm writing this review is to comment on Oxo's excellent customer service. I dropped my 4 quart container onto tile and the base cracked (totally my fault). I wrote Oxo asking if I could purchase a replacement base (I didn't want to have to buy the whole thing and have an extra lid) and they sent me one for free as a goodwill gesture! This is the kind of customer service that I don't see a lot of anymore, so I'm highly appreciative and am planning on buying more Oxo goods when I get the chance.

These seal up nice and look great. I haven't had any bugs get into my cornmeal or anything else since I started using these. This size is perfect for the five pound bags of flour and sugar. When you wash them just remember to make sure all parts of the lid components are completely dry. I forgot to check once and the top layer of my sugar clumped from the little moisture that was left. It would be great if they had a spot to label on the top and sides but I found a sharpie and a piece of masking tape works fine. Also another improvement that would be nice would be if they had some sort of texture toward the bottom on the outside to help with gripping when picking up the container. These are not made to be picked up by the lid- the weight of the container will cause the seal to break. I experimented with this using water, so be sure to pick them up by the container. I like these so much I plan to buy the 2.5qt size for smaller dry goods like brown sugar.Customer Review: Well worth the investment!

I bought 2 of these 4 quart containers, with reservations over the price. I mean, let's face it, that's a lot of money to spend on a container, right? Well, I am so glad I did. I'm left handed and have always had "threading" issues with tops that need to be twisted or turned onto threads. It's so frustrating to try for the 5th time! I am sure any handed person could have this annoying problem too. Well with this container, I pop the button, the top comes off, I get the flour or sugar I need, and press the button and it's nice and sealed! And it keeps your foods fresh and bug-free with no worry. Spend the money and don't buy that cheap junk anymore! Love it!
One tiny note is don't fill it to the top, the POP up lid needs room to compress and lift off. It's easy to figure out.
