I've been a fan of OXO for years. I received this product last week and am now suffering buyers' remorse. Here's the 'I didn't think this through' part - this product is made with the thick clear plastic (Styrene Acrylonitrile - SAN) which since I've banned all plastics from my kitchen, won't be touching my food. While SAN may not leach the nasty by products of the petrochemicals it's made from, there is enough information about leaching plastics on the web to know I don't want plastics touching the food I have in my kitchen. Especially with kids around. I shouldn't have bought this but like i said, I wasn't thinking.
Also, the product is made in China and with the poisoned toothpaste, cough syrup and pet food that has come out of there in the last two years, I don't use anything made in China if it comes in contact with what goes in our bodies. Amazon should put the origin of the product in the description.

I thought these would be great for brown sugar and various baking items where you have to measure a cupful etc.
No mess right? Right, the two that I had light and dark brown sugar in are a total waste. The sugar is hard as a rock so there is certainly no mess I can't get it out of the container.
To top it off I had one of those brown sugar discs in the container too. If it isn't going to keep sugar from drying out, it sure isn't going to keep cookies from getting stale.
I am generally a big fan of everything OXO, but certainly not these. Very expensive and useless. Before getting these I kept them in one of the disposable plastic containers without a problem. I am going back to those. Save your $$$

The Oxo storage container/canister is a REAL DISAPPONTMENT! My first experience of opening a canister of white sugar and discovering a solid block of sugar was blamed on the brand of sugar. The second episode of a solid block of brown sugar made me examine the container, lid, and seal more closely. The lid can be removed without releasing the POP top. The obvious result is a terrible seal, which keeps nothing fresh. This is certainly not Oxo's intention. Oxo needs to look for a better design or better quality control in China!
