This is a great peeler. The Y shape creates a better angle with the food, and can make short work of apples, potatoes, and carrots without slipping.
The blade is incredibly sharp and peels off only the very top layer without taking big hunks of the food with it. The top has a small scoop for digging out potato eyes.
I like that the blade comes with a cover to keep it from damage, and eliminates the problem of reaching into a drawer and getting cut.
I've had mine for a couple of years now and the blade is still razor sharp, so it clearly holds an edge well.
If you are still using a standard peeler, give this a try and you won't ever go back.

I am a fan of this "style" peeler as they are typically easier to hold. I would have to say this is the best peeler I have owned. Over my 25 years of cooking I have had about a dozen different brands of this type of peeler. This one is super sharp, easy to hold, and best of all you can replace the blades when needed in the future. The only downside, if you can call it that, is that it takes a thicker peel than other similar peelers. I would recommend this to anyone who peels vegetables on a regular basis, it will save you time! It's also wonderful if you want thin strips of carrot or cucumber for salads, that is the positive side of a slightly thicker peel.Customer Review: Best peeler we've ever owned

We had a few old and not so sharp peelers around the kitchen and we bought many of the OXO Good Grip items to replace our old and unattractive kitchen utensils, and love the quality, comfortable grips, and looks of our new kitchen essentials. This peeler is very sharp and makes peeling vegetables significantly easier than before. we also bought the replacement blades just in case, but this is the sharpest peeler we've ever owned.
I would recommend the OXO Good Grips to any of my family or friends with no hesitation. we are very impressed by the OXO Good Grips utensils for the comfortable handles, quality construction looks and price.

It has a nice heft to it. The grip is very grippy and comfortable. It looks great. It peels mangos like a dream. It has an easy, effortless, and very smooth cutting action. It works beautifully. The blade must be pretty sharp to do that. Definitely a high quality tool. I love luxury. This is yet another thing for living my luxurious lifestyle. I buy no junk. I do very high quality work and I lead the field in my own business. Conversely I demand very high quality products for my high end lifestyle. It's first class all the way around for me!

This is a very sharp peeler that makes dealing with butternut squash and any other oblong vegetables a breeze. A Y-peeler allows a lot more leverage on tough-skinned veggies than is possible with a traditionally shaped peeler, which is why professional chefs and serious home cooks always have one in the drawer. I also have the i-series swivel peeler for carrots and other smaller objects. The replaceable blade is the same for both models, another plus. It's not for the careless -- use the blade guard for storage and be sensible.
