If you are shopping for a wonderful peeler that really does a great job this is the one. It is built in a sturdy way and has a replaceable blade. It does a great job on difficult peels. The one caution I would give is that since I get cuts all over whenever I use a peeler for this one, the cut will be stronger than another peeler. Therefore do what I did.
Buy a $1 pair of gloves at the hardware store and wear them when you peel if you are like me and get cuts when you peel. Enjoy!

I was a bit skeptical of Y peelers at first, they seemed so alien compared to the normal way of peeling things. But 5 pounds of potatoes have made me a believer. The sharp peeler breezes through peel without digging deeply into the potato itself leaving a nice smooth surface below. It worked equally well on carrots. The eye remover is a nice touch, allow you to effortlessly scoop out blemishes. Replaceable blades round out the package. I don't know this stuff, other than my wife wants one. I just checked America's Test Kitchen (the consumer reports of the kitchen), and they raved about the i-series oxo peeler, but the "non-Y" peeler (the more standard style with the blade in the same direction as the handle). Specifically raved about the sharpness of the blade and overall balance.
I figure the same qualities apply to the "Y", and going with this one.

Almighty Alton Brown told me to buy one so I did. I am not disappointed. I only peeled one potato so far but am very impressed. It takes off very little yet peels great. It is very sharp, so be careful. Don't forget extra blades. Amazon had this "buy 4 items pay only for 3" promotion (can't recall its exact name) and blades turned out to be free. I purchased this together with OXO 1057966 peeler, they use the same blades.Customer Review: The best I've ever used!

I've used quite a few peelers in my lifetime, and this OXO is the best.
The blades are sharp and set at just the right contour for fast and efficient peeling. I peel mostly root vegetables so it is important to wash most of the dirt off before using the peeler to reduce dulling the blades. The handle is very comfortable. Try to keep the blade guard the OXO comes with to protect the blades during storage.
