Customer Review: Best Rolling Pin I Have Ever Used!!

If you look at all of the reviews for this product you will see that it has its fair share of negative comments. In all honesty I almost purchased a different rolling pin due to these comments but I am really glad that I decided to buy it anyways as I for one absolutely love this rolling pin. First and foremost its has a perfect size and weight. This combined with a great set of handles makes this the most comfortable rolling pin I have ever used and I have used quite a few in my time.
The complaint that I have to disagree with the most is in regards to the dough sticking to the pin. While it is certainly a bit more sticky than wooden rolling pins, its not so sticky as to make it a nuisance. In fact I prefer this pin's level of stickiness to my old wooden pin. It gives it a better grip on the dough, yet not enough so that it causes problems. If your having a serious problem with dough sticking to this pin then I would take a good look at how accurate your measurements are because I can tell you first hand that this pin is not too sticky.
One of my favorite aspects to this pin is the fact that the handles are weighted so they are always in the proper position. This combined with a perfect height off the surface of the roller assure you will never bang you knuckles again. Of course it would be criminal of me not to mention the overall quality of this rolling pin. Like most of OXO's products, it has a very high build quality. I have absolutely no doubt that this pin will be with me for a very long time.
Bottom line - If your looking for a very high quality rolling pin then you should at least give the OXO rolling pin a look. The little details like the weighted handles really make this pin a real pleasure to work with.

I own many Oxo kitchen products and this rolling pin is a great example of why I do. It lives up to the name of good grips in two different ways. First, the handles fit perfectly in your hands and are easy to hold onto, even if your hands are floured or covered in dough. Second, the pin itself seems to do a good job of gripping the dough. The heft of it makes it easy to roll out even stubborn doughs to the desired thickness without tearing the dough. Best of all, I have no problems with sticking. Even if I do not grease my pin even the trickiest doughs slide off easily. I've used it for everything from pizza dough to sugar cookie dough to dog biscuit dough. It's great for everything.
It's also noting that even though there is a little heft to it, it's still not unbareably heavy. I have no problem working with it or cleaning it. The only thing I have noticed is that if I wash it in the dishwasher it seems to take on water so I have to be careful when removing it otherwise it leaks a significant amount of water on the floor.
Overall this is an excellent all purpose rolling pin and one I would recommend to anyone who enjoys cooking and baking and wants high quality kitchen tools.

Having used my grandmother's marble rolling pin for the past 11 years, I was hesitant to replace it with a non-marble product. I worried that the handling wouldn't be as easy, or heavy, or smooth...and I liked the fact that I was using a natural product with some heft and substance to it. Having said as much, I ordered this because of the favorable reviews and could not be happier. I have used it to roll out various kinds of dough...all of which have been sticky and difficult to work with. This pin handled it all perfectly. The handles are a perfect fit, my knuckles don't hit the counter, the control is fabulous...and NOTHING sticks. I haven't stuck it in the dishwasher yet, as it totally goes against everything I have ever known about rolling pins, but I'm sure it would be fine...for now i just wipe it down when I am finished and store it away. :) It is a very LARGE item, so if you don't have a lot of space, this might not be the product for you...but for me, it's perfect and lovely in every way.Customer Review: Wow!

I have to admit that I was surprised when the rolling pin arrived. I'm used to OXO quality, but this is over the top. It is a big rolling pin, with an ideal diameter. It is also heavy. It's heft helps keep it where it belongs, instead of bouncing around on the dough and making you work harder. It has a strong axle, which glides remarkably smoothly, even when the pressure is on. The hard non stick surface works very well, and does not pick up butter grease like some other coatings. The handles are simply the best I have have encountered. This is a very well designed kitchen tool that fully lives up to the "Good Grips" promise of quality.Customer Review: Excellent product

I have used this rolling pin to roll out cinnamon-raisin dough for bread as well as roll-out cookie dough for cookies. It is a heavy rolling pin, which is nice for bread doughs that spring back, and if the dough is floured (or sugared) adequately, then the dough does not stick to the rolling pin at all.
Another way to solve sticking is put the dough between two sheets of wax paper, and that way your pin does not touch the dough at all.
I consider myself an intermediate baker, and I definitely recommend this rolling pin to other bakers, as it is comfortable to use and easy to clean.
