I received this can opener as a wedding gift. It took a few times to get used to how to put the opener on a can for use--especially if you're used to using an older, traditional can opener. Once I got used to it though, it's a gem. It removes lids cleanly and easily. Once you go all the way around, you can use the small claws on the opener to grab ahold of the lid for easy removal. Best of all, the can opener stays clean.
My old can opener ended up in the garbage.

Throw out all your old and any can openers that you have struggled with. This invention is simply amazing, effortless, does not get dirty, plus gives you a reusable lid for refrigerator storage. This sturdy can opener works wonderfully! It doesn't take any effort to attach it to the lip of a can, and the easy to hold handle turns easily and quietly. Once the lid is cut from the can, using the small lid pliers on the side makes removing it from the can a mess-free task. No more handling sloppy can lids! Lids can be removed from cans without the danger of sharp edges. So easy to operate, a child could do it. This can opener is worth every penny.Customer Review: EXCELLENT PRODUCT

This can opener is well worth spending a little extra money for. I had bad experiences with two cheaper smooth-edge type can openers, one left metal shavings along the rim of the can after opening (GROSS!) and one just plain broke after one use. This OXO Good Grips can opener is sturdy and feels like cutting through soft butter while moving around the can. It also leaves a very clean cut and the lid pops on or off the can like a dream. This elegant looking can opener works great and has several advantages over electric or other manual brands. The opener sits horizontally on top of the can and turns easily, though it might be difficult for children to use, and the mechanism cuts in such a way that the lid has no sharp edges and does not dip into the can's contents. You must pop the lid off with your thumbs, which might be a problem for anyone with arthritis.Looks great. Works great.
