Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of OXO Good Grips Smooth Potato MasherCustomer Review: good product, comfortable grip Summary: 4 Stars
This is a good product. I have used it on potatoes (all root veggies actually) as well as things like apples cooked for apple sauce. It is easy to use with a comfy grip. That said..i still feel like i need a ricer. I think if I had got the ricer first I wouldnt feel the need for a masher so I am thinking probably it would have been a better buy to just get the ricer... storing all this kitchen stuff is always an issue for me. The company that makes this has consistantly made excellent products (great heat resistant spatulas too) and this is one more. I think this is a great buy if this is all you will need. If you will ultimately need a ricer anyway...consider getting that first and than see if you still need this
Customer Review: Better than your average masher Summary: 4 Stars
There's nothing quite like fresh mashed potatoes, and with this masher, it's an easy treat to make. The comfy horizontal grip on this potato masher makes it easier to use than the traditional vertical handled ones. You can really put your muscle into the mashing without having to develop huge forearms holding onto it. It has never let me down, very reliable, I've even used it when the electricity is out.My only complaint would be that if you're doing a lot of potatoes and have large hands, you might get some on your knuckles as you repeatedly crush the helpless vegetables. This is only a minor annoyance though, and if you're in the market for a potato masher, you'd be hard pressed to do better.
Customer Review: Pretty good Summary: 4 Stars
Yep, it mashes potatoes. Yep, it's much better than the useless curved style that I used to have. Yep, I'm glad I bought it.
Customer Review: Pepe Likes It Summary: 3 Stars
This OXO Potato Masher is something I'd been looking for over the past 10 years. When I found it, I bought it right off. It works well, except for one thing: If your cooked potatoes are not very soft, the pressure you put on the handle can actually spread outward the side rails holding the bottom face plate. It would have been a better item if the bottom masher plate had not been spot welded but rather been all one piece attached to the sides. One of my sides is actually detaching from the masher part, and I've only used it twice. Still, this concept is much better than the others.
Customer Review: Mash them Taters Summary: 3 Stars
If you like mashed potatoes and need a device that will help you turn ordinary round potatoes into something mashed and yummy this is the thing you should buy. If you are looking for a gizmo that will create grated cheese or something that will help achieve world peace then this is not the thing you should buy...unless you don't already have one because everyone should have one.
