I purchased this item for a slightly higher price years ago and I'm still loving it! The only reason I ever pull out the old mesh screen is if this one is dirty AND I'm in a hurry. It far surpasses any mesh screen. First of all, it is made of sturdy rigid stainless steel instead of the weak mesh. It easily fits my very large skillet and the handle stays cool. I've had it at least 5 years with frequent use and it still looks brand new. It does have larger holes than most mesh screens, but I don't remember ever having a problem with splatter. I might suggest to those who are having problems with splatter that HIGH is not the only setting on the stove. It is true that you might be limited on placement in some dishwashers, but it also washes easily in the sink. I really didn't like paying so much for a splatter screen, but after I felt how weighted it is and saw how well it works, I would have paid more!Customer Review: This Is Great!

Wow, this is a vast improvement over the ordinary splatter screens you can get anywhere. First of all, it's not made of the standard screening like in window screens. It's made of a sheet of perforated stainless steel - like a perforated pizza pan but with smaller holes. Sooo much easier to clean and you don't have to be careful not to poke a hole in it or dent it when cleaning and storing it. It also has 3 circular "ribs" in it that allow it to sit securely on different size skillets and pans. No more slipping off the skillet. And the sturdy, folding handle is so clever. You can really wash this in the dishwasher because it's so sturdy and with the handle folded down, it fits!!! In my opinion, this is definitely worth the extra money and you probably won't ever have to replace it.Customer Review: Great Design

Although not the cheapest available, this splatter screen is a great design and worth every penny. As you would expect, it definitely keeps the cooktop clean when I am cooking something that splatters. But the two features that I appreciate as much about this are the ridges in the screen that are set at common frying pan sizes so that the screen will stay secure and not slide around. I also like that the handle folds, which makes putting this in the dishwasher and storing it in the cupboard much easier. This screen has a solid feel to it and I expect that it will last (like all the other oxo products I have) a long time.Customer Review: excellent spatter protection

I like this version. It stops more of the spatter than the screens in my experience, and it is easier to clean. It looks much more durable - the screen things I've had have all died quickly. You can't see the food through it, but I like the fact that it retains more of the heat, so pork chops (for instance) get cooked through while they are being browned. For some reason our local Target was selling these for $5 for a while, so I bought a lot of them and tossed out what we had been using.Customer Review: Best splatter guard I've used

This item simply works as advertised. It's without a doubt the best guard I've used. It keeps splatter to a minimum, is high quality (as has been every Oxo product I've bought) and folds close to flat for easier storage. I love the concentric rings which allow it to fit on a variety of pans/skillets, versus the typical one size fits all style of most other guards on the market. Money well spent.
