I do own this and many other Oxo Grind Its.
This is another well-made product from Oxo. It's adjustable grinder works well and never clogs or falters. I've owned this and many others for several years and am still very pleased by the performance.
I do prefer to have a grinder on each herb/spice, but saving money is good, too. ;) Changing the grinder from one jar to another is not difficult, but you do have to learn the "knack". The fact that the grinder is "rubberized" makes this very easy to hold on to.
When you change the grinder to a different jar you do have to remember one thing: tap the jar on your counter or cutting board several times to get the current herb/spice back into the jar. Otherwise you may end up with a small bit of flavor contamination.
I've never found flavor contamination a problem, as the Oxo sets are thoughtfully grouped. When you're using one of the herbs/spices in any recipe, it's highly likely you'll be adding other flavors from that set.
I've measured the amount left in the grinder (by the "tapping out" process) and found it's consistantly less than 1/8 of a teaspoon. Unless one is a professional taster or is making a VERY small amount of something it's pretty insignificant. Most people wouldn't notice.
Of course, if you do something silly like put a spice grinder on an herb jar it could be more noticeable.
I also don't worry about buying the replacement jars of herbs/spices. I find they refill nicely.
The grinders really do allow the flavor of the item to shine through. A fine product all-in-all, and I'm quite sad that they have become difficult to locate.

Suitable for flavoring everything from pasta sauces to pot roasts to omelets, the four dried herbs in this set--basil, oregano, thyme, and rosemary--bless food with their full aromas when they're ground by the set's cleverly designed grinder. The ceramic grinder is tough, durable, and won't corrode. It adjusts from coarse to fine with the twist of a knob, and its soft housing cushions the hand. Simply remove the cap, snap the grinder onto the jar, point the grinder down, and twist. Flavoring falls either directly onto food or into the cap, which is calibrated to 1/8-, 1/4-, and 1/2-teaspoon measurements. Because the four herbs have a natural affinity they can share the same grinder. (The 3-1/2-inch-high jars can be filled with any herb or spice, and the grinder will handle them with ease.)
