Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of OXO SteeL Garlic Press, StainlessCustomer Review: Easy To Squeeze Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this to replace my Pampered Chef press. That utensil came with a separate component to push the garlic off the end of the press and to push out the leftover. I bought this press because I love all things Oxo, and I loved that the tool to push out the rest was built in. However, I miss that I don't have something to wipe the garlic off after it presses through and end up grabbing a butter knife to do it. On the up side, it's super easy to squeeze and is very effective at mincing garlic. That point makes up for having to grab a butter knife.
Customer Review: Wastes garlic + Loose handle + Ridiculously easy to clean = Still a win Summary: 4 Stars
1) Garlic squirts out the sides--perhaps 10-20% is lost. (The Zyliss is more efficient. Of course, the Zyliss also eventually looses its finish and turns your garlic--and hands--gray from a moment's contact with the aluminum.) But garlic is cheap; I can buy extra.
2) The handle came lose in a matter of weeks. But I can glue it.
3) Garlic just rinses out of the crevices. Sometimes a bit might need a little encouragement, but in general, it's a trivial process.
Conclusion: I dig it.
Customer Review: Works like a champ Summary: 4 Stars
The first thing you notice is that this has a nice weight to it, not some cheap plastic. It matches all the other appliances i have, but beyond aesthetics its preforms great. I put a clove in and crush it a little then take it out to peel the skin after that throw it back in and press again and the garlic comes right out of the press. Easy to clean too, just turn your faucet on high and it will clear out the crushed remains. Great product.
Customer Review: Good but not great Summary: 4 Stars
The garlic press works well but could be improved. The fit of the plunger is loose so some garlic squeezes up the sides and must be repositioned and pressed again. The cleaner that operates by reversing the handles to unplug the holes does not work well. I still find it necessary to poke out the residue with a toothpick or knife point. The grip is good and the metal is easy to clean and does not pit like my old cast aluminum one.
Customer Review: Good garlic press, not perfect Summary: 4 Stars
This is a good garlic press, typical OXO. It's a solid product with the "easier clean" pad on it. I liked the solid feel, the size of the handle and the clean pad works alright. I didn't like the heavy weight (feels like lead) and the "clean pad" is overhyped--- to clean, you still have to work to get the pieces of garlic out of the chamber.
Good but not excellent.
