I have always had cake testers (I hate all those toothpicks lying around and they sometimes don't go deep enough in cake pans), but when I moved, they disappeared.

I like that this cake tester has a larger top so that it is easier to find. When I don't like about it is that the metal is too soft and flexible. When it arrived, it was all bent out of shape and I had to straighten it. It never did get totally straight, but it suffices and does it's job.

I also like that the top has a little hole so that I can hang it on a small nail inside the cabinet close to the oven so that it is close at hand when needed.

Before I purchased this, I used a wooden skewer to check my cakes. It worked, but it left a big hole in the baked goods. This reusable tool makes a hole that you cannot even see. It is super delicate, so you have to make sure you do not bend the fine wire.

I love it, and use it often. It is even dishwasher safe!

I thought this item seemed silly since I had always used a toothpick. Now I have 3 of them. Nice for thick cakes, I use them all the time. Good price too. They do bend easily though, so be careful when washing.
