This is my first pitter and it works well. I bought it specifically for olives and it preserves the integrity of the olive so that you can slice them nice and uniformly. I would have given it five stars, but it is a bit tedious to use. Maybe the Kalamatta olives I buy are too small, but it requires a little thought to lay them in there just right so that the plunger stays within the olive. And the olives stick to the plunger when you release the handles, with the pit typically only coming most of the way out. Still, it beats mashing the pits out of the olives with your knife.Customer Review: Pit Stopper!

A friend of mine strongly recommended this tool for cherry pitting, and I use this more for olive pitting. Very happy with the simple structure and very little fuss. Easy to clean. Neatly put away. This replaced an oxidized aluminum olive (cherry) pitter that has so much oxide it would rub off on my hands and I was afraid to use. This is a great improvement, it is easy to use and clean. Great for pitting cured black olives for pasta dishes and salads. I have never used as a cherry pitter, but I'm sure the little clear plastic piece is a nice addition to prevent cherry juice from decorating your kitchen. I am a big fan of all the oxo gadgets and have never been disappointed in any oxo purchase.
