While I can open almost all bottles on my own, there are a few that resist all the usual blandishments - tapping the lid on the counter, using hot water on it, etc.
For even those reluctant jars, place the plastic on the counter to hold the jar in place, put the opener on the lid - presto ... it's almost magic how easily it opens.

I've had many jar openers in the past and all were worthless. This is by far the best opener that I have ever used. It can open virtually all jars and bottles caps with the least amount of effort. I love this OXO Good Grips Opener, especially the i-Series Jar Opener. It grips the lid and the leverage the opener offers is easy on the hands and wrist, especially if you have arthritis or and hand, tendon issues. I bought several and give them as gifts.Customer Review: opens everything

Wow! This product opens every jar, small and large. I don't hesitate to recommend it to everyone. I don't know what I'd do without it. Some may use an electronic opener, but it doesn't work on everything and this will work when the electricity is down.
